- Gives transplants a better chance for survival and establishment
- Strains selected to colonize roots in both warm and cold climates
Inoculation of seedlings with ectomycorrhiza fungi is well established in the Forestry industry. U.S. Forest Service Ag Handbook 674, p. 159:
"We cannot overemphasize that mycorrhizae must be included in any assessment of root development and seedling quality...Thus, seedlings with mycorrhizae are better prepared to immediately begin soil exploration and so stand a better chance for survival and early growth than nonmycorrhizal seedlings."
AgBio-Ectos is a proprietary blend of the ectomycorrhizal fungi Pisolithus tinctorius plus four Rhizopogon species. Pisolithus is for trees in warm climates and Rhizopogon for trees in cold climates. This is a concentrated dry spore product ready for dilution in its own container.
When diluted with water it contains 2.3 million spores/milliliter. It is applied as a spray or drench to root balls when planting or after planting over the top of the soil. The dry product should be kept below 95F. The water mix should be refrigerated if stored for any length of time. Keep phosphorus fertilization low to moderate for best response.
