Seedcorn/Onion Maggot Trap
The onion maggot, Delia antigua,and Seedcorn maggot, Delia platura are pests of many crops including corn, bean, cucurbits, onion, and potato. Larvae injure plants by feeding and burrowing into seeds, roots, and seedlings often causing rot. Other undesirable effects are emergence of adult flies in markets from pupae which attached to harvested plant material in crops such as onions
The Seedcorn/Onion maggot lure is a very efficacious lure to aid in the integrated pest management of this pest by serving as a monitoring tool to assess pest infestation levels around fields or perhaps, as a Mass Trap alternative control tactic by reducing adult populations in the field. Seedcorn Maggot Report Use Directions: Attach the lure on a yellow sticky card or use with a water trap. Replace the sticky card with a fresh one as needed. The lure lasts at least 30-40 days. |
